Only connect! That was the whole of her sermon. Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at its height. Live in fragments no longer. Only connect, and the beast and the monk, robbed of the isolation that is life to either, will die.

Who says men can't multitask?

Jay Cross makes the most of his time and shares this interesting observation about open source software:
The fact that open source code is free delegates decision-making lower in the organization. You don't need a purchase order—or official approval—to use it.
Which reminded me of one of the distinctions between the industrial and information ages. The information-age, Reigeluth writes, favours autonomy with accountability rather than industrial-age centralised control. It would seem open source software is well suited to the new rules of the information-age.

In case you're wondering why, unlike Jay, you find it hard to handle two things at once, apparently we weren't made to multitask.

Stephen, I don't see multitasking as either/or.

Hiking and listening to mp3s works, as does listening to the radio while driving. Writing reports while talking on the phone is tougher. Playing Jeopardy while having sex is impossible.

Multitasking capability depends on the tasks.

Saying that men can't multi-task is the same as saying that anyone who performs a given task in a certain way is incapable of doing it any other way.
Women can listen to the news while having sex. So can men, but there is a fundamental difference in the way they listen. The man may be listening to hear how world events will affect his business. The woman may be listening to hear how they will affect her family. These are not identical tasks and have far-reaching differences in the body and mind's responses to what is reported.
The idea that we can't have equal rights in society without claiming to be identical in every respect is a farce dreamed up by insecure women.
